President Maduro: ‘We’ll meet with new governors and mayors to work for and favor the people’

“What do I expect from the governors and mayors who will be elected? For them to go to the streets. They have a vital, fundamental role. We must tackle the problems of the communities,” said President Nicolás Maduro at a press conference held after he cast his vote.

The Venezuelan president said that according to the Constitution, he will summon the Federal Council of Government soon. “We have to meet with the new governors and mayors to work for and favor the people,” he added.

Also, he said that “those governors who will be elected have to come and get along with Maduro and talk to me to move forward with projects and engage in a dialogue for action.”

“We have three vital years to build a new prosperity, and it depends on what happens today,” said Maduro, who added that “these elections are already a success for the country […] Go out and vote. All Venezuelans should go out and vote.”
