This Saturday a flight from the Russian Federation arrived at the “Simón Bolívar” International Airport, with a shipment of 500 thousand doses of Sputnik-V to continue developing the Mass Vaccination Plan of the Venezuelan people against COVID-19.
The People’s Power Minister for Health, Carlos Alvarado and the Russian ambassador accredited to Venezuela, Sergey Mélik-Bagdasárov, received at the air station this eighth shipment of vaccines that has arrived from the allied Eurasian nation since the humanitarian bridge was established to care of the pandemic in Venezuela.
The Head of the health office, Carlos Alvarado, said that this new provision of the Russian antidote is very important for Venezuela, since it allows the vaccination day to progressively increase until reaching 22 million immunized people, equivalent to 70% of the Venezuelan population thus, create a herd immunity.
“Thanks to this collaboration and the brotherhood between the Russian Federation and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, it has been possible to overcome the effects of the blockade, of the unilateral coercive measures”, said the representative of the Bolivarian Government.

Russian Ambassador Mélik-Bagdasarov shared feeling “extremely happy, because today June 12 is Russia’s National Day and there is no better option to celebrate this important day for our country than by receiving this other batch of vaccines in Venezuela, which is a symbol of our fraternity and cooperation in health matters”.
In addition to Sputnik-V vaccines, the Russian-Venezuelan strategic alliance on health has been finalized with medical supplies and biosafety material to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, and insulin vials for diabetic patients.
