At a meeting on Monday, May 17, the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreza, held a conversation with the representatives from the Swiss-based international NGO Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue, Elena Valenciao and Judyta Wasowska, about cooperation opportunities in different areas and the negative impact of unilateral coercive measures against the Venezuelan people.
The repercussions of these coercive measures, imposed by the US Government and its allied countries, were described as «devastating» by UN Special Rapporteur Alena Douhan in the preliminary report on his visit last February.
Also, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela filed a referral in the International Criminal Court in February 2020, under the allegation that these measures embody crimes against humanity according to the Rome Statute.
The meeting took place at the headquarters of Venezuela’s Foreign Ministry, in Caracas, and was also attended by Foreign Vice-minister for Europe Yván Gil.
The «Henry Dunant» Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD) is a Swiss-based (Geneva) private diplomacy organization linked to the International Red Cross, established in November 1998 and founded on the principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality and independence.
