Venezuela’s foreign minister, Iran’s ambassador discuss bilateral cooperation agenda

At the headquarters of Venezuela’s Foreign Ministry, the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza, held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Caribbean country, Hojjatollah Soltani.

At the meeting, the two authorities discussed the cooperation bilateral agenda between Tehran and Caracas, focusing on the development of strategic areas to face the economic blockade imposed by the United States.

Last year, amid the efforts made by the Venezuelan Government to control the propagation of COVID-19 and the escalation of unilateral coercive measures against PDVSA, the Islamic Republic of Iran sent five tankers carrying fuel and chemical additives to keep the Venezuelan people supplied with fuel.

The arrival of these Iranian tankers marked a new level of energy, scientific exchange between the two nations.

“I think Iran and Venezuela are setting an example of how we can move forward together despite adversities and aggressions,” stressed the Venezuelan foreign minister.

Venezuela and Iran have maintained exemplary diplomatic relations for 70 years on the basis of mutual respect, solidarity and joint work. In the last two decades, the two countries have joined efforts to strengthen a multipolar world of independence, justice and peace.
