The Vice-minister for Multilateral Issues of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, Daniela Rodríguez, held on Wednesday a meeting with the ambassador of the Russian Federation accredited in Venezuela, Sergey Mélik-Bagdasárov, with whom she reviewed the issues that both countries develop in the context of international organizations and forums in which they coincide in membership.
“Russia and Venezuela have a level of cooperation and strategic relationship, and this happens through concerted action in the multilateral sphere”, contextualized the senior official, specifying the permanent missions that the two countries have in the organizations based in New York, Geneva and Vienna.
The Vice-minister specified that they reviewed the status of several joint initiatives, such as the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter and also agreed on the need to move towards the constitution of the association of countries against unilateral coercive measures.

Similarly, the diplomat pointed out that they envisioned new scenarios and challenges in the geopolitical, multilateral and global spheres “to strengthen cooperation and guarantee greater security, peace and well-being for our peoples”.
In terms of bilateral cooperation, at the end of March of this year Venezuela and Russia signed 12 agreements that include 20 strategic areas, within the framework of the Meeting of the High-Level Intergovernmental Commission, which corroborates the excellent level of relationship that both governments sustain, demonstrating cooperation and solidarity.
