On behalf of the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs Jorge Arreaza expressed on Tuesday his heartfelt condolences to the fraternal people and Government of Mexico, “after the unfortunate event on Line 12 of the Mexico City subway that caused the death of at least 23 people and 79 injured. Our embrace!”
Around 10:25 p.m. on Monday, a beam supporting an overpass of Line 12 gave way and two train cars plunged onto one of the main roads in the southeast of the Mexican city.
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador promised a full investigation will be conducted on the accident and responsibilities. “There’s no impunity for anyone,” he said.
This is the worst tragedy in Mexico City since the 2017 earthquake.
