In order to review the progress made by the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to endorse a new Interinstitutional Cooperation Agreement on higher education, Foreign Vice-minister for Multilateral Affairs, Daniela Rodríguez, held on Friday a video conference with the Director of the UNESCO Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (UNESCO-IESALC), Francesc Pedró.
At the virtual meeting, attended by the Education Ministry’s Director General of the Office for Integration and International Affairs, Anny Pérez, and the Coordinator of the Venezuelan National Commission for UNESCO, Nelson Duarte, the authorities discussed the importance of the IESALC as the only in its kind in Latin America and the Caribbean to provide higher education to all the countries of the region.
Likewise, they highlighted that despite the blockade imposed on Venezuela, the country has done everything possible to honor the commitments and contributions needed to ensure the functioning of UNESCO-IESALC.
Noteworthily, the endorsement of a new Interinstitutional Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of People’s Power for Higher Education and UNESCO-IESALC reaffirmed the will and commitment of the Venezuelan State to higher education for the Latin American and Caribbean people.
