“Today we have José Gregorio Hernández recognized on the altars of the churches and on the altars of the heart of the people”, as expressed by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, on the beatification of the Doctor of the Poor that took place this Friday in the San Juan Bautista de La Salle Church, located in Caracas.
“I thank Pope Francis for having given this just recognition to Dr. José Gregorio Hernández and this gift of faith and spirituality to our people”, he stressed from the Miraflores Palace, located in Caracas, where he received Yaxury Solórzano, the girl blessed by the miracle.
At the end of a meeting with representatives of the Venezuelan Episcopal Conference (CEV), he stressed that “Venezuela is the land of miracles, deep spirituality and everything possible”, which is why he urged to maintain faith in the fate of the nation.
“It has been a very auspicious, spiritual and beautiful meeting”, he said, while noting that the rapprochement between the national executive and the Catholic Church is translated into a message of reconciliation for Venezuelans.
Earlier, through a beatification ceremony, the ascent of Dr. José Gregorio Hernández to the altars was made official, a liturgical act that made him the fourth blessed in Venezuela along the mothers María de San José, Candelaria de San José and Carmen Rendiles.
