The Vice-minister for Multilateral Issues of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, Daniela Rodríguez, held on Tuesday a meeting with the national coordinator of the Country Program (2018-2021) of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Franco Silva, with the purpose of promoting inclusive and sustainable development in strategic areas in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
The Vice-minister reported that the Latin American country is about to start an important agroindustrial modernization project, in order to guarantee food security and promote modernization in the agricultural sector for the production of important items such as soybeans, corn and rice.
She also added that the progress of the existing projects within the framework of this cooperation signed in 2018, and the challenges of Venezuela to guarantee food sovereignty, was reviewed.
“The UNIDO manages a broad economic capacity to strengthen the technical capacities of the countries participating in the cooperation”, she stressed.
Venezuela signed the 2018-2021 UNIDO Country Program in 2018 with the aim of promoting inclusive and sustainable industrial development throughout the nation, as well as promoting employment, trade and investment.
