Venezuela receives 877,098 insulin vials as part of health agreements with Russia’s Geropharm

As part of the Venezuela-Russia bilateral cooperation, within the framework of the Commercial Strategic Alliance endorsed in 2019 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the 11th insulin shipment for patients with diabetes arrived in the Simón Bolívar International Airport on Friday.

The shipment was received by Venezuela’s Foreign Vice-minister for Europe Yván Gil and Russia’s Ambassador to Venezuela Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov.

Melik-Bagdasarov said that this new shipment arrived in Venezuela “as part of the health agreements endorsed by Venezuela and Russia’s Geropharm. It’s a shipment with 877,098 insulin vials.”

Vice-minister Yván Gil highlighted that with this new shipment, “over 4.2 million insulin vials have been received. That represents 77% of the agreement between Venezuela’s Health Ministry and Geropharm.”

This shipment includes 393,216 vials of Crystalline insulin, 471,443 vials of NPH insulin and 41,959 vials of 30/70 insulin mix.

The delivery of insulin to Venezuela has been possible despite the illegal, unilateral blockade against the South American country, thanks to an agreement endorsed by the Ministry of People’s Power for Health, through the Socialist Company for the Production of Biological Medicines (Espromed BIO), and Russia’s Geropharm.
