Venezuela will send risk experts to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the event of a possible eruption of the La Soufrière volcano

The People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, reported that in the next few hours the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela will send humanitarian supplies and risk experts to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines due to the danger of a possible eruption of the La Soufrière volcano, which this morning released gases and ashes into the atmosphere.

“To cooperate in evacuation and preventive relocation of citizens in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the member countries of ALBA-TCP are on alert to coordinate the necessary support”, he said on his official Twitter account @jaarreaza.

Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves, issued a few minutes ago an evacuation order for all residents living in high-risk areas, classified as red zones, in the northeast and northwest of the Caribbean island.

“I ask all residents to act accordingly with immediate effect to ensure their safety and of their families”, he urged.

The Prime Minister pointed out through his Twitter account that the country “is preparing for a possible disaster” caused by this colossus that is specifically found on the island of Saint Vincent.

La Soufrière has expelled volcanic material since the end of December 2020 and a new dome has been formed, next to the one left inside the crater after its last major eruption in April 1979.
