ALBA-TCP defines actions to face regional scenario at 21st Political Council

Within the framework of the Post-pandemic Working Plan, the 21st Meeting of the Political Council of the Bolivarian Alliance for the People of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) was held on Monday to strengthen alliances and define political actions to face the COVID-19 sanitary emergency.

The virtual meeting gathered the Foreign Ministers and other representatives of the ALBA-TCP member countries to assess the regional, political situation and perspectives for the first half of the year.

In his opening statement, the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza, stressed the importance of this meeting to face the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has caused around 2.5 million deaths worldwide.

In this regard, the Venezuelan diplomat highlighted the meeting and thanked Executive Secretary Sacha Llorenti for leading the organization’s achievements such as the Bank of Vaccines, as well as joint actions to fight the crisis in Latin America and the Caribbean.

“We have seen how the Bolivarian Alliance has been active in different areas,” stressed the Venezuelan foreign minister in reference to the measures adopted by the ALBA-TCP in health, education and economy, among other areas affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
