Venezuela offers WHO-established treatment for free against COVID-19

The Bolivarian Government is working with the World Health Organization (WHO) to addresss the COVID-19 pandemic, said President Nicolás Maduro on Monday in an interview with Brazilian journalist Breno Altman.

“All COVID-19 patients in Venezuela are hospitalized according to the severity of symptoms, offering the treatment protocol established by the World Health Organization for free,” said the Venezuelan president.

Likewise, countries like Russia, China, India, Turkey, Cuba and Vietnam have offerered Venezuela their technical, scientific capacities, as well as medical supplies and equipment.

Thanks to these alliances, Venezuela has ensured free, prompt, quality healthcare resulting in significant figures amid the pandemic like a 95% recovery rate.

Furthermore, the Caribbean nation has one of the lowest infection rates in Latin America as a result of the joint work between the public health system, security agencies and grass-roots organizations.

To face the pandemic, Venezuela has adopted measures such as the mandatory use of facemasks, social distancing, and a self-conscious, volunteer lockdown under the 7×7 scheme, which has enabled to break the transmission chain and control the increase in cases.

So far, Venezuela has deployed 14,000 medical brigades throughout its territory in order to find COVID-19 cases in communities house by house.
