Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza: ‘8 out of every 10 COVID-19 cases in Venezuela are imported’

Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs Jorge Arreaza highlighted on Tuesday, June 9, the «poor sanitary handling» of the governments of Colombia, Ecuador and Peru in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, as evidenced in the fact that 8 out of every 10 cases registered by the Bolivarian Republic in Venezuela are nationals coming from those countries.

«This is what the mass media hide: In Venezuela, the pandemic is under control. 8 out of every 10 COVID-19 cases are Venezuelans fleeing from Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. This proves the poor sanitary handling and underreporting in those countries,» stressed Arreaza on his Twitter account @jaarreaza.

The Venezuelan forieng minister also shared COVID-19 updated data in Venezuela: 2,473 cases, out of them 1,931 are imported, 487 have recovered and 22 have died.

The report on Monday includes 96 new cases in the last 24 hours; they are all imported: 90 from Colombia, and 6 contacts with international travelers.

For the second consecutive day, no community transmissions were registered, informed the Venezuelan Vice-president Delcy Rodriguez, who pointed out that 55,924 Venezuelans have returned home and that 1,609 out of them have tested positive.

The Venezuelan vice-president said that they have done 1,039,506 tests, representing 34,640 tests per 1 million population, more than any other country in the region.
