Asian countries honor Liberator Simón Bolívar for the 53rd anniversary of ASEAN

On the 53rd anniversary of the creation of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), diplomatic representatives of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Republic of Indonesia, the Federation of Malaysia and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, paid honors this Friday to the Liberator Simón Bolívar with a floral offering at the National Pantheon, in Caracas.

The activity was attended by the accredited ambassadors in Venezuela from Vietnam, Le Viet Duyen; Indonesia Mochammad Luthfie Witto’eng; and the Chargé d’Affaires of Malaysia, Mohammad Raizul Nizam Bin Zulkiffli; accompanied by the Vice-minister for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, Rubén Darío Molina.

On behalf of the Asean Committee in Caracas, the Vietnamese ambassador ratified the commitment of the Asian countries to strengthen diplomatic relations and cooperation with the South American nation, for which, as a show of solidarity, they donated medical supplies to the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, within the framework of the fight against Covid-19, hoping that the people will soon overcome the pandemic.

For his part, Vice-minister Molina stated that the principle of ASEAN is peace, without which there can be no fair trade, relations between peoples, or their development. «We proudly join these 53 years here, nothing more and nothing less than where the mortal remains of the Liberator Simón Bolívar are», he said.

Asean is an intergovernmental organization of Southeast Asian States created on August 8, 1967 by five countries: Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. It currently comprises 10 countries, with more than 669 million inhabitants, making this international organization the fifth largest economy in the world.
