The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects the statements of the High Representative of the European Union, Federica Mogherini at the Council of Foreign Affairs Ministers of the EU, in which, once again, she interferes in the internal affairs of Venezuelans and utters unacceptable threats against our country, getting closer to the aggressive positions of the US government than to the efforts to reach a peaceful understanding between the main Venezuelan political actors.
At a time when right judgment is pivotal for an environment of dialogue in Venezuela, the European Union seems committed to keep the conflict as a formula for policy making, even contradicting the good spirit of approach of the Special Adviser, Mr. Enrique Iglesias during his visit to our country and betting in its place, for an attempt to assume a position of support for the destabilizing factors, which hampers any initiative such as the self-styled International Contact Group.
While in Venezuela and the world there are voices condemning the criminal blockade resulting from the unilateral coercive measures, the European Union uses these measures as a mechanism of political extortion and as a defense and justification to favor those responsible for political crimes and those who request a foreign military intervention in Venezuela.
The Bolivarian Government again urges the European Union to assume a position of respect and constructive balance, as well as to desist in its attempts to hinder the peaceful solution mechanisms that are being carried out now, which are indisputably accompanied by most Venezuelans.
