The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects the illegal decision made by the United States of declaring the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as an international terrorist organization.
Apart from being an open violation of International Law, this unilateral and interfering action is also ethically aggravated by the application of a double standard in the field of the antiterrorist struggle, by attempting to penalize an organization which is precisely known for its important contributions in the fight against such problem.
The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela recognizes the important role of Iran for the Middle East geopolitics. Its struggle against extremism and terrorism promoted by the major powers and their allies in that zone counts on the power of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps to fight, promote and strengthen the security and stability of the region, jointly with the attacked independent nations.
In this light, Venezuela expresses its solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran and urges the international community to condemn such unilateral actions, demanding respect to the UN Charter as well as the cessation of the obsessive imperialist attack against independent peoples and governments that pursue peace, prosperity, wellbeing and defend their sovereignty.
