The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects the content of the ministerial declaration by the self-proclaimed International Contact Group that, after meeting yesterday in the city of Quito, Ecuador, made the reckless decision of meddling in affairs of the exclusively Venezuelan state functioning, to the extent of trying to condemn Venezuelan institutions performance in the exercise of their powers and under the protection of their legal attributions.
The Bolivarian Government calls the members of the International Contact Group to respect the Venezuelan State institutions and legal system, and urges them not to go beyond their functions, in order to preserve their capacity to contribute to a real understanding among national political actors, and avoid the unacceptable biases demonstrated in their recent statement that seek to promote conflicts rather than understanding between the parties in Venezuela.
By virtue of their alleged willingness to ease dialogue between Venezuelan parties, delegations sent to Venezuela by the International Contact Group have been so far received by Venezuelan high authorities and have been given a warm and respectful treatment. This attitude differs from the biased and offensive treatment given to the legitimate Venezuelan institutions under the terms of the International Contact Group most recent statement.
The Government of the Constitutional President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro Moros, maintains its unswerving commitment to dialogue as the only way to reach the necessary agreements to ensure peace, stability and development of our nation and the whole Latin-American and Caribbean region.
