Venezuela rejects interference of the EU in the functioning of the organs of the Venezuelan public power

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects the statement of Mr. Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, as well as the terms of a statement attributed to the spectral International Contact Group, related to the latest political and institutional events in Venezuela The unusual and most recent interference by the European Union in the functioning of the organs of public authority in Venezuela is unprecedented in the history of relations between that group of countries and Our Latin America and Caribbean and violates the most elementary principles of International Law. The European attempt to impose a kind of supervision on the functioning of Venezuela’s democratic institutions is a further sign of the colonialist arrogance and nostalgia that still lives on the corporate veins of the dominant elites in the old continent. With respect to an alleged position that circulates in social media, attributed to the self-called International Contact Group, it is valid to conclude that this organization, whose formation was announced to offer contributions to the Venezuelan political reality, has lacked utility to such a point which can be affirmed with strict compliance with the facts, that the referred Group, died at birth. In this regard, it should be noted that in international relations, the “living dead” do not contribute to good relations and a positive approach to political processes and their resolutions. The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela reiterates that Venezuela is a free and independent country that does not and will not accept rude interference from any government or international organization. Therefore, for the umpteenth time, Venezuela sincerely calls on the European Union, its Member States and its institutions to recover the union, to respect International Law, the sovereignty of the Venezuelan people and to establish constructive relations of cooperation.
