The People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, received the credentials on Tuesday from Robert Schuddeboom, the new Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Netherlands in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in a formal ceremony held at Casa Amarilla, in Caracas.
During the meeting, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister welcomed the European diplomat and affirmed that the Bolivarian Government is capable of raising the level of relations with the Kingdom of the Netherlands, considering the historical neighborhood and brotherhood between the peoples of Venezuela and the Netherlands Antilles: Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire.
“Whatever difference there has been, we must face it with dialogue, direct communication, in real time, and resolve it”, proposed the Minister.
He indicated that he communicated to the Head of Mission Schuddeboom about the Anti-Blockade Law, recently approved by the National Constituent Assembly, that among its benefits is the protection of international investments in Venezuela and, in this sense, he proposed to return or exceed the levels of commercial exchange that in the recent past was held with the Dutch islands in the Caribbean.
For the sake of this last purpose, the Head of Venezuelan diplomacy mentioned that migratory flow problems must be resolved and binational tourism restored, in addition to coordinating efforts at the highest level with the Kingdom of the Netherlands to address the issue of the security, which encompasses the fight against organized crime and drug trafficking in the Caribbean.
The new Head of the diplomatic Mission of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Robert Schuddeboom, affirmed that it is very important for his country to have good relations with Venezuela, due to the common interests that are multiple and intense.
“We are neighbors, because the Kingdom of the Netherlands is not only a European country, it is also a Caribbean country. I will work to improve bilateral relations if possible”, he said.
The Dutch diplomat comes from serving as Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Previously, he served as Minister Counselor in Moscow and Ambassador in Riga, Latvia.
