The Venezuelan revolutionary leader and head of Government of the Capital District, Darío Vivas, died this Thursday due to COVID-19, whose contagion he communicated on July 19.
After confirming the death, President Nicolás Maduro and other senior officials of the National Executive regretted his physical departure.
“An immense sadness fills our hearts for the physical departure of a great brother from life, Darío Vivas. A foolproof revolutionary who was in charge of a thousand battles and struggles alongside the people. A big hug to his family and friends”, said the Venezuelan president on his Twitter account @NicolasMaduro.

The Executive Vice-president of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, urged “to follow his tireless example” and affirmed that the revolutionary leader “never stopped walking in defense of our people.”

Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza, for his part, described the late head of the capital as “indispensable, a warrior.”
“Always the first in the front row. May the pain we feel for his physical departure be transformed into national passion and strength to win in all battles. May his inexhaustible energy drive us to continue steadfast, towards socialism”, the diplomat also said on Twitter.

The revolutionary leader was a member of the National Constituent Assembly and a deputy of the National Assembly; On January 29 of this year, he was appointed by President Nicolás Maduro as Head of Government of the Capital District.
