Minister of People’s Power for Ecological Mining Development Gilberto Pinto held a meeting on Wednesday via video conference with Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy of the Republic of South Africa Gwedw Mantashe in order to review bilateral cooperation initiatives in the mining sector.
The ministers assessed the possibility of developing new projects in the mining sector including exploration, exploitation and trade of minerals in the “Orinoco Mining Arch” Strategic Development Zone, starting with the construction of a joint agenda.
Likewise, they reviewed the current status of the existing cooperation initiatives in order to jointly define a strategy allowing for the materialization of the agreements reached.
In the virtual meeting, which was also attended by representatives of Venezuela’s Oil Ministry and the South African Embassy in Caracas, they proposed the possibility of establishing cooperation mechanisms for technical training in the mining area.
In late January, the 2020 Venezuela- South Africa Business Forum was held in Caracas in order to start building opportunities in the economic and commercial fields.
