In a message sent by Foreign Minister Tete Antonio to his Venezuelan counterpart Jorge Arreaza, the Government of the Republic of Angola expressed its congratulations to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on the occasion of the 209th anniversary of the declaration of its independence.
“I have the great honor of addressing, on behalf of the Executive of the Republic of Angola and on my own, to Your Excellency our congratulations on this important date”, the note read.
In the letter, Foreign Minister Tete Antonio takes the opportunity to show the desire of the Angolan government to consolidate bilateral relations “in favor of peace and social progress.”
The Republic of Angola has played a relevant role in maintaining peace in the southern African region. Venezuela established formal diplomatic relations with this African country in 1986 and they share common positions in various multilateral settings such as OPEC, an organization of which Angola is also a member.
