Representatives of the countries of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) held a preparatory meeting on Thursday for the XXV Ordinary Meeting of the Coalition Council of Ministers.
The meeting, developed under the videoconference modality, began with the approval of the agenda and other matters concerning the Ministers.
Similarly, the presentation of the executive summary on the activities carried out between March 2019 and March 2020 by the President of the Council of Ministers was made, as well as the presentation of the executive reports of the Presidents of the Special Committees of the Commission of the Caribbean Sea and the Council of National Representatives of the Special Fund.
The representatives of the member countries reviewed, among other matters, the Draft Joint Work Program of the Founding Observer Organizations of the ACS for the period 2020-2021, including proposals to be developed with observer countries such as: Italy, Serbia and the United Arab Emirates.
The virtual meeting also served to consider and present recommendations for approval by the Council of Ministers regarding Montserrat’s applications to become an Associate Member, the People’s Republic of China to become an Observer State, of the Italian-Latin American Organization to become an Observer Organization and the University of the West Indies, Euclid University and Van Oord to obtain the status of “Social Actor” in the ACS.
It should be noted that, at the high-level meeting where the draft agenda for the XXV Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers was considered and approved, the Vice-minister for the Caribbean of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, Raúl Li Causi, attended on behalf of the Venezuelan State.
