Venezuela, Cuba strengthen fraternal cooperation ties

Vice-president Delcy Rodriguez held a meeting Tuesday, June 2, with Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Venezuela Dagoberto Rodríguez Barrera to continue strengthening fraternal, cooperation ties between the two countries and strategies to prevent and contain COVID-19.

The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Vice-president’s Office, where they exchanged experiences on their fight against the pandemic.

Cuba-Venezuela relations date back to 1962, but since revolutionary leader Hugo Chávez took office in 1991, bilateral relations have been boosted to the highest level with a great humanist sense, forging an important alliance with the Cuban government in a fraternal, commercial relation.

Since then, the Cuba-Venezuela Intergovernmental Commission has endorsed 1,400 agreements in areas such as health, sports, cultures, energy, telecommunications, economy and agriculture.

Today, the governments of Presidents Nicolás Maduro and Miguel Díaz Canel reaffirm relations of respect for the self-determination of their peoples and honor the legacy and vision of a multicentric world embraced by revolutionary leaders Fidel Castro Ruz and Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías.
