On Tuesday, June 2, Vice-minister for Multilateral Affairs Alexander Yanez held a meeting with members of the National Permanent Commission of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) and Venezuelan authorities to discuss the regional project for the management, monitoring and control of wild fauna and flora species threatened by trade, better known as Bioamazon Project.

“We reaffirm the plans and projects in the Venezuelan Amazon within the framework of the Cooperation Treaty with a view towards the ecosocial programs of the Republic,” expressed Yánez.

The meeting was attended by the Ministries of People’s Power for Defense, for Ecosocialism, the Minister of State for the New Border of Peace Gerardo Izquierdo Torres, and the Legal Office of Venezuela’s Foreign Ministry.

At a working meeting held last March, Coordinator of the Bioamazon Project Mauro Ruffino and the technical staff of the Ministry of People’s Power for Ecosocialism discussed the procedure flows for investments in this project.
