President Maduro celebrates 11º anniversary of Bolivarian National Militia

President and Commander-in-Chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB) Nicolás Maduro celebrated Monday, March 13, the 11º anniversary of the Bolivarian National Militia. In a presidential decree signed by Commander Hugo Chávez on April 12, 2010, this day was adopted as the Militia’s Day to honor those men and women that, together with patriotic soldiers, defeated the April 13, 2002 coup d’état orchestrated by right-wing sectors against the Bolivarian Revolution. This special corps is part of the FANB and it is currently comprised by more than 4 million men and women volunteers that enlist to defend Venezuela. On his different social networks, the Venezuelan president recognized that the Bolivarian National Militia has defended peace in the country. “Militia men and women, you have guaranteed our glorious history. Keep on ensuring victories over difficulties,” he wrote. Presidential Press Office
