Most COVID-19 cases isolated in hospitals

Most COVID-19 cases have been isolated in healthcare centers in order to reduce within-family and community contagion, informed Sectorial Vice President of Communication, Culture and Tourism Jorge Rodríguez. Only 9 cases are waiting to be put in isolation after President Nicolás Maduro ordered the hospitalization of all COVID-19 cases detected in the country. “We have enough beds, 23,500, to attend to those infected patients. Those people that test positive should go to a healthcare or isolation center, either a Comprehensive Diagnosis Center or sentinel hospital, to avoid within-family contagion,” said Rodríguez at the Miraflores Presidential Palace in Caracas. Rodríguez deemed the isolation measure appropriate from the medical point of view, given that countries like Spain have registered a high rate of within-family contagion. Since March 13, Venezuela has recorded 171 COVID-19 patients, 84 out of whom have fully recovered and 9 have died. Presidential Press Office
