President Maduro rejects persecution of Venezuelans in Colombia amid pandemic

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, referred to the attacks of Venezuelan citizens in Colombian territory, where they are being expelled from their homes or rooms for rent and dismissed from their jobs. The President asked the government led by Iván Duque to stop xenophobia against the nationals who live in Colombia. “Stop that, President Duque, enough of xenophobia and persecution against Venezuelans, in Venezuela there are 6 million Colombians (…)”, he said. In contrast, the Venezuelan Head of State affirmed that the Colombian community in Venezuela is being served with quality and free of charge, without persecution. Covid-19 detection machines Nicolás Maduro ratified the intention to send two Covid-19 detection machines to the neighboring nation, since that country reported the failure of the only equipment they had for the detection of the virus. “Solidarity and cooperation must be put in front here. We need Colombian and Venezuelan doctors to stop the pandemic together (…) I want good for the people, for the health of the people of Colombia and Venezuela”, he said during a meeting with health specialists held at the Miraflores Palace. The machines are high-tech, they provide automated sample preparation, a quick real-time short test of amplification to process up to 376 samples in 10 hours.
