Bolivarian Government highlights solidarity of the Puebla Group by requesting an end to the blockade against Cuba and Venezuela

The People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, thanked the Puebla Group for its solidarity, in promoting a worldwide pronouncement to lift the blockades and other unilateral coercive measures against the peoples of Cuba and Venezuela. Through his Twitter account @jaarreaza, the Foreign Minister wrote: “The Puebla Group @ProgresaLatam expresses its solidarity with the peoples of Cuba and Venezuela and urges the countries of the world to demand the cessation of the criminal blockades imposed by the United States towards both countries #LasSancionesSonUnCrimen”.
“These blockades, which are political sanctions against their rulers, have violated, for decades, the rights of the inhabitants of these countries, condemning them to live without access to medicines or material goods. This, which in normal situations it is cruelty, today -in the context of the pandemic due to the Coronavirus or Covid-19 it is the announcement of a tragedy that we must avoid at all costs”, warned the Puebla Group through a press release published on its official website.
He assures that solidarity and peace must prevail as policies of international relations between the peoples of the world and invites support for the positions of the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), António Guterres; the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet and a group of US senators, who also advocate for an end to the blockades, as part of a war strategy to face the exponential spread of Covid-19.
