President Maduro praises efforts of Venezuela’s health workers to fight COVID-19

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro praised the efforts made by health workers to protect the Venezuelan people after the detection of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the country. “I want to thank all the country’s health staff: doctors, nurses, bioanalysts, infectious disease specialists, biologists; and all the Venezuelan scientific staff, medical, health and scientific institutions for their dedication because we have managed to go through this first phase and get ready in the best way possible,” he stated. At the Miraflores Presidential Palace, Caracas, he sent a message to thank the People’s Republic of China for its logistics support to face this pandemic that is striking the world. “I want to thank the People’s Republic of China for all the support it is providing us and that it will provide us in the next days to supply the necessary equipment to fight this pandemic that is affecting humankind,” he added. The Venezuelan president explained that, according to reports of the World Health Organization (EHO), drastic measures were not taken across the world to face this pandemic, causing the death of more than 5,000 people worldwide. “Isolation quarantine measures were not taken. Venezuela is going through the first phase of this virus spread. This virus arrived here from overseas and we are in a quarantine phase,” he underlined. President Maduro stressed his call to take the right measures to face COVID-19. “We are confident that we are going through a control process, called “the curve flattening” by statistic experts, until we can definitely control coronavirus from an epidemiological point of view.” Presidential Press Office
