President Maduro praises UNICEF’s work in Venezuela

On December 11, 1946, by decision of the UN General Assembly, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) was created, with the aim of bringing humanitarian aid and hope to children around the world, whose lives are at risk of conflict, crisis, poverty or inequality. This organization works in more than 190 countries and territories through different programs and National Committees. The basis on which its work is governed is the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and its work is focused on five priority areas of work: Child survival and development, education and gender equality, childhood, child protection and promotion of policies and partnerships. In Venezuela, UNICEF has been present since 1967, but it was in 1991 when the first Country Program was signed, a document that marked its cooperation with national actors to improve the situation of girls, boys and adolescents, making progress in the fulfillment of their rights. The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, praised and thanked on Wednesday all the workers of Unicef for their effort to guarantee the human rights of all the children in the world, he said in his official Twitter account. In this way, the Bolivarian Government continues its hard work and commitment to the children of the country, through vaccination days and protection of the drinking water service for their good living.
