Donald Trump gave the order to overthrow President Evo Morales, said the Venezuelan head of state, Nicolás Maduro Moros, during a meeting with governors, mayors and state protectors, held Monday in the Ezequiel Zamora room of the Miraflores complex from Caracas.
“There, Donald Trump came out to applaud and celebrate what he believes is his victory”, said the President, recalling that during the session in which Bolivia assumed the presidency of the Security Council of the United Nations (UN), Evo Morales delivered a brave speech that confronted the head of the empire face to face.
“The look of Donald Trump was revenge, hate and gave the order to overthrow and end the Indian … and the ambush was mounted”, he denounced.
After the coup in Bolivia was consummated, the US president, Donald Trump, celebrated Morales’s resignation and described it as a “significant moment” for democracy in the region.
“The United States applauds the Bolivian military for protecting the Constitution”, Trump said, while warning that what happened in Bolivia is “a signal” to presidents Nicolás Maduro and Daniel Ortega.
Evo Morales complied
The Bolivian right has not been able to win elections before the indigenous leader, Evo Morales, who won the victory last October to get 47.08 percent of the vote, with 100 percent of the scrutiny.
In second place was the opposition candidate, former president Carlos Mesa (2003-2005), from Comunidad Ciudadana (CC), with 36.51 percent of the votes.
The Bolivian Constitution states that the candidate who meets 50 percent plus one of the valid votes or obtains a minimum of 40 percent will be proclaimed president, with 10 points of advantage over the second candidacy.
Given the imminent results, President Maduro stressed that Evo Morales complied with the legal requirements established by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE).
OAS stabbed Bolivian democracy
President Maduro also repudiated the actions of the Organization of American States (OAS), which issued a report on the electoral audit, in which they recommend holding new elections, but without presenting strong evidence of an alleged fraud.
In the opinion of the Venezuelan president, the commission sent by the Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro, “went to complete the plan of ignoring the elections, the legitimacy of the victory of Evo Morales and stab democracy to accelerate the violence and coup”.
