Guatemalan Labor Party condemns US blockade against Venezuela

The Guatemalan Labor Party (PGT), through an article published on its blog, condemns the new Executive Order of the President of the United States, through which it totally blocks the assets of Venezuela in that country and authorizes sanctions to third parties who do business With the South American nation. This Order deepens the criminal economic, financial and commercial Yankee blockade against the Venezuelan people. “The illegitimate blockade means not only a series of obstacles to the commercial exchange of Venezuela with any country, but also the theft of its international reserves, international bank accounts and Venezuelan companies outside its territory, as is the case of Citgo, a subsidiary of Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), which the Trump administration illegally appropriated”, he argues. The Party specifies that the new aggression implies the blockade of the acquisition and supply of basic goods in matters of food and health, the acquisition of goods and supplies necessary for the production and provision of essential social services, to the sale of Venezuelan oil in the international market, among others. “The US government arrogates the right to prohibit third countries and companies from trading with Venezuela, threatening them with economic sanctions. This causes a true humanitarian crisis and applies a genocidal policy against the entire people of Venezuela. That is terrorism”, he says. The Central American political organization adds that the blockade is accompanied by a campaign that threatens military intervention in Venezuela, already materialized in actions such as the violation of Venezuelan airspace by spy planes. He points out that with this, the gringos obstruct the dialogue between the legitimate government of Venezuela and the opposition that, mediated by the government of Norway, is developed with the objective of seeking a political and independent way out of the crisis caused by the fascist right and the imperialist interference. In addition, he affirms that this Executive Order, by being endorsed by the opposition, led by the usurper Juan Guaidó, legitimizes the temporary suspension of the dialogue ordered by the legitimate president Nicolás Maduro Moros. PGT notes that the criminal blockade against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela violates international law and the Charter of the United Nations. “It shows, once again, the imperialist character of the United States that, in its eagerness to dominate the world and appropriate the strategic resources of the peoples, threatens its sovereignty and independence as wel as its subsistence and development”, he says. He also condemns that Trump’s new Executive Order is an additional step in the permanent aggression, robbery and unconventional war that imperialism drives against the Venezuelan people and government, who are assisted by the right to adopt their own path of well-being over base of its independence and sovereignty, without bowing to imperialist interests and impositions. “As communists we condemn this new aggression of the United States and send our solidarity to the Venezuelan government and people, to whom we recognize their right to boost and deepen their Bolivarian Revolution without any interference”, concludes the article of the Guatemalan Party.
