Venezuelans living in Colombia must withdraw passports in Caracas

In order to guarantee the proper attention and protection to all Venezuelans residing in the Republic of Colombia after the rupture of diplomatic relations between both countries, on Tuesday the Bolivarian Government reported that as of this date, the delivery of passports and extensions managed by nationals in the neighboring country, may be withdrawn only at the headquarters of the Administrative Service of Identification, Migration and Immigration (SAIME), in Caracas. In this sense, it is necessary to remember that the issuance, renewal and extension of Venezuelan passports depend exclusively on the Administrative Service of Identification, Migration and Immigration (SAIME), which supported by the legitimate diplomatic and consular representations of Venezuela, are the only entities that count with the legal capacity to provide the services of the Venezuelan State abroad. In this way the entire Venezuelan community residing in the Republic of Colombia is informed that all these documents are in the safekeeping of the Saime and waiting to be withdrawn by the nationals who require it. It should be noted that the rupture of diplomatic and consular relations between both countries arises as a consequence of the continuous aggressions of the Colombian government against the Venezuelan institutions that in their eagerness to propitiate a coup against President Nicolás Maduro, encouraged acts of violence on the Colombo-Venezuelan border, on February 23.
