Foreign Minister Arreaza: We hold President Lenín Moreno responsible for the safety and integrity of our compatriots

As a fascist persecution, the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, described the pronouncement made by the President of the Republic of Ecuador, Lenin Moreno, who after the femicide perpetrated by a Venezuelan against his partner -a young Ecuadorian- incited the security forces of that country to apply “the full weight of the law” through the creation of brigades that will be in charge of controlling Venezuelan immigrants in the streets, work spaces and the border, a fact that immediately triggered the violence and the xenophobia against the rest of the compatriots that are in that country. After the fact that happened last Sunday in the town of Ibarra, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister said through his Twitter account @jaarreaza that “President Lenin Moreno and his government have incited a fascist persecution against Venezuelans in Ecuador. We hold them responsible for the safety and integrity of our compatriots. In Venezuela, hundreds of thousands of Ecuadorians live and have never been discriminated”, he said. President Moreno informed through a statement that he does not rule out the possibility of creating a special entry permit for Venezuelans, because in his opinion, his country “has opened the doors to them, but will not sacrifice their security”. After the statement issued, which also ensures that “Ecuador is and will be a peaceful country. I will not allow any antisocial to take them away”, the reactions did not wait and the former president, Rafael Correa, through his Twitter account @MashiRafael, criticized the position assumed by Moreno against Venezuelans and recalled that the first femicide committed in Spain in 2019, he was executed by an Ecuadorian. “What misgovernment! If the killer had been an Ecuadorian, would the problem be different? Martha’s rapists, were foreigners? The first 2019 femicide in Spain was committed by an Ecuadorian. If the Spanish government said the same thing?” Correa published. After the incident and the statement made by Moreno, the violence and xenophobia against Venezuelans in Ecuador increased even more, to the point that some of the compatriots were robbed, and their belongings were burned, while the rest of Venezuelans who spend the night in the streets of that country are victims of persecution and aggression.
