Venezuela’s Vice-president Delcy Rodríguez condemned that that Kingdom of the Netherlands blocked the visit of a Venezuelan delegation to the Hague, where it would meet with the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan.
Vice-president Rodríguez explained that the government of the Netherlands imposed security conditions whose fulfillment was impossible for the diplomatic flight to arrive.
“There is cynicism behind this decision. There is deception. That’s why we say it is scheme. They cannot put obstacles for a State that is part of the Rome Statute to go there and fulfill a work agenda that’s been already arranged,” she said.
Also, Rodríguez reiterated that the Netherlands, as a host country, is violating the ICC Headquarters Agreement, the Charter of the United Nations (UN), the Vienna Convention and the Agreement on the Privileges and Immunities.
“It’s an embarrassing situation, and Venezuela is making a strong representation on this illegal measure that violates the international legal order,” she lambasted.
Finally, Vice-president Rodríguez said that President Nicolás Maduro has ordered to inform all the international bodies to schedule this meeting in a different country in order to comply with the agreement.
