The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, asserted that “the ALBA-TCP countries have successfully managed the pandemic crisis, stand up, put the vaccines, control the situation (of COVID-19) and today we are holding the first face-to-face Summit to discuss a post-pandemic economic, social and political plan”.
Upon his arrival in the Republic of Cuba to participate in the XX Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), he stressed that “the year 2022, this third decade of the XXI century, is very close and should find the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean united and strong”.
“Here we are, standing, whole and victorious for this face-to-face ALBA-TCP Summit. We are very happy to be in Havana, 27 years later, carrying the flag of Martí, Bolívar, Fidel and Chávez”, said the Head of State.
He recalled that on a day like today:
“Almost at this same time, 27 years ago, our beloved commander Hugo Chávez landed for the first time, physically in Cuba. Right here in this sky, in this space, Chávez and Fidel embraced. The embrace that founded all this time of change that we have lived in this XXI century that is just beginning”.
Regarding the presidential appointment, he said:
“We have come to this ALBA-TCP Summit, it is a Summit of union, solidarity, brotherhood, the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America, the alliance for peace, union, integration, an alliance for true solidarity, an alliance to build the new world, from our identity and from our diversity”.
