Foreign Minister Plasencia receives Copies of Credentials from the new Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria

The People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Félix Plasencia, received the Copies of Credentials from the new designated ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Abdelkader Hadjazi, in a formal ceremony held at the Casa Amarilla Antonio José de Sucre, in Caracas.

During the meeting, accompanied by the Vice-minister for Africa Yuri Pimentel, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister and the Algerian ambassador exchanged brief impressions on international geopolitics and the excellent relations of cooperation and solidarity consolidated between both countries.

Ambassador Hadjazi is a career diplomat with the current rank of Minister Plenipotentiary. He studied Law and completed a Master’s Degree in International Law at the University of Algiers.

His latest diplomatic responsibilities include Ambassador to Yemen and Eritrea, appointed in 2014 and from 2019 to mid-2021 he served as Ambassador to Libya.

Diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Algeria date back 50 years, being strengthened in the context of the Bolivarian Revolution, a current period in which they have signed bilateral agreements in the areas of politics, culture, education, trade, communication, transportation and energy. The latter is of particular importance, because both nations are member states of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the Gas Exporting Countries Forum.
