Victory of international law: UN recognizes President Maduro as the legitimate representative of Venezuela

The General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) approved with the majority vote of the member countries, the recognition of the credentials of the Government led by President Nicolás Maduro Moros, as the only legitimate representative of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

This was reported on Monday by the permanent representative of Venezuela to the UN in New York, Samuel Moncada, who stressed that this recognition represents a victory for the Venezuelan government against the colonial aggressions of the United States and its “parallel government” plan.

“In 2019, the colonial slave created by the United States to loot Venezuela, had support from 60 countries. Today in the UN General Assembly, only 16 of 193 countries refused to recognize President Maduro”, Moncada explained through his Twitter account @SMoncada_VEN.

After the re-election of President Nicolás Maduro in 2018, some countries in accordance with the guidelines of the United States government resolved to ignore the first national leader. Instead, some governments backed a former congressman, who in January 2019 proclaimed himself President-in-Charge, in a public square in eastern Caracas.

The destabilizing strategy promoted by Washington, lacking any constitutional endorsement, registers its lowest support within the United Nations, which represents, in the words of Ambassador Samuel Moncada, “a victory for international law and for the self-determination of peoples”.
