In the midst of the ceremonial acts and celebrations for the birth of the Republic of Barbados, after its separation from the British monarchy, Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia pointed out the cordial meeting he held with the singer and businesswoman Rihanna.
In a message published through his Twitter account @PlasenciaFelix, the Head of Venezuelan diplomacy recognized the role that the singer has played as a “musical icon”, while highlighting her contributions to the promotion and recognition of her nation before the world.
Likewise, the Foreign Minister thanked the artist for being part of that historic moment for her people and extended his invitation to the singer to visit Venezuela.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs is in Barbados on behalf of the Venezuelan people and Government as part of the bonds of brotherhood and solidarity shared by both countries.
Rihanna honored as “national heroine”
The Barbadian singer was awarded the title of national heroine of Barbados during the ceremony of transition of power that the Caribbean country held on Tuesday to become a Republic.
The artist was invited to come to greet new President Sandra Mason and Prime Minister Mia Mottley, who thanked her for her “extraordinary commitment to her homeland”.
In addition, in September 2018 Rihanna was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Barbados “with specific responsibility for promoting education, tourism and investment in her native country”.
