Vice-president Delcy Rodríguez: ‘These elections are of transcendent importance to Venezuela’

Vice-president Delcy Rodríguez stressed that these regional, municipal elections are of transcendent importance to Venezuela as 65,000 out of 70,000 candidates participating are opposition.

“It is a great message to the country to ratify that this is the way. There is no other way,” she said.

After casting her vote in Caracas, Rodríguez pointed out that over 21 million Venezuelans have been called to vote. “The vote and sovereignty are sacred,” she said, and they ratify the rejection to the anti-democratic “self-proclamation of a deputy that has cost so much to the life of the Republic and suffering to our people.”

Likewise, the Venezuelan vice-president highlighted that as a woman, she feels she is represented in these elections as 59.44% of candidates are women.

With these elections, the message the Venezuelan people convey to the world is very clear: “Venezuela wants peace, development, stability and economic growth. I hope those who pretend to be deaf and blind understand once and for all that the Venezuelan people want a destiny, a future, self-determination, and they have to respect that.”
