Foreign Minister Plasencia reiterates in Moscow demand for the US to dismantle the regime of unilateral coercive measures

In the context of the conference Venezuela: Geopolitics of unilateral sanctions and violation of international legality, at the Valdai Discussion Club in Moscow, the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Félix Plasencia, insisted on the demand the administration of Joe Biden to dismantle the entire route of sanctions against the Bolivarian nation.

He pointed out that if the current president of the United States wants to be more responsible, he must repeal the declaration of Venezuela as an unusual threat to the security of the North American country, based on the fact that “we can understand each other and move towards a better future for everyone in the region”.

“What if we aspire to have a better relationship with the government of President Biden? Of course yes. Of course, we would like to have the best relationship with the US Government”, he said.

Foreign Minister Plasencia assured that the Bolivarian Government is committed to having good relations and a constructive dialogue with any government in the world, based on respect for sovereignty and treatment among equals.

During his presentation, the Minister described the regime of unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States as irresponsible, unjustifiable, in violation of international law, the United Nations System and the principles of the community of nations.

When asked about how the detention and kidnapping of diplomat Alex Saab affects the dialogue process between the Bolivarian Government and the political opposition, he explained that the Venezuelan ambassador to the African Union in Ethiopia belongs to the dialogue table by the official sector and was detained illegally in Cape Verde, his diplomatic immunity was violated and one day before the fourth meeting of the round of negotiations in Mexico City, the United States goes to an independent state, kidnaps him and takes him to its territory.

“It is a chain of legal and procedural violations and irregularities against a Venezuelan diplomat”, declared the Foreign Minister, who clarified, however, that it should not be thought that the dialogue disappeared.

In this sense, he highlighted the efforts of President Nicolás Maduro to attract and seat at a dialogue table radical sectors of the political opposition, which are invaders of the Venezuelan Embassy in Washington, who ask for foreign intervention to their country and guarimbas starters, among other destabilizing actions.

During the development of the conference, Foreign Minister Plasencia contextualized the leadership of Venezuela in the region since the independence feat from European colonization, led by El Libertador Simón Bolívar; the diversification of trade relations promoted by the Bolivarian Revolution with countries such as Iran, Russia, China and Turkey, to the decree of President Obama that classified Venezuela as an unusual threat to US security, which laid the foundations for the progressive regime of unilateral coercive measures.

Finally, he pointed out that despite the undeniable negative impact of the coercive measures on the Venezuelan economy and the consequent impact on the people, the Bolivarian Government is strengthened. “We have resisted, we are still in battle and one of the reasons is due to the solidarity of the Russian people and the government of President Putin”, he thanked.
