The People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Felix Plasencia, arrived in Moscow this Sunday, where he plans to develop a work agenda together with his Russian counterpart, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Through his Twitter account @PlasenciaFelix, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister announced that his first official visit to Russia will aim to strengthen diplomatic relations between Caracas and Moscow and, in turn, deepen the existing cooperation between both nations.
“In Moscow, following the invitation to a bilateral work agenda by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov with the instruction of President @NicolasMaduro to strengthen our unconditional alliance with the people and the Government of the Russian Federation”, he said.
Upon his arrival in the Russian capital, he was received by the director of the Department of Latin America, Alexander Schetinin, and the Vice-director of the Department of Protocol, Alexander Prusov.
Accompanied by the Vice-minister for Europe, Daniela Rodríguez, Foreign Minister Plasencia will hold high-level meetings at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, will give a keynote address on the impact of unilateral coercive measures against Venezuela and, among other activities, he will grant interviews with local media.
The working visit of the Venezuelan Foreign Minister takes place a few days after the XV meeting of the High Level Intergovernmental Commission (CIAN) Russia-Venezuela was held in Moscow, in which nine (9) cooperation agreements were signed in various areas.
Venezuela and Russia have combined 76 years of diplomatic relations, which have experienced significant dynamism in recent decades, thanks to the impulse given by the leaders of both countries to foster cooperation at all levels.
