Venezuela’s Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia rejected the remarks and meddling of the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell regarding issues related to the Venezuelan migration and democracy during his recent visit to Latin America.
“He insists on devoting his rhetoric against my country. I recall you that Venezuela has a leadership in cooperation, solidarity and development in our region. It is a land of opportunities for our people and millions of immigrants,” he wrote on his Twitter account @PlasenciaFelix.
In this regard, the Venezuelan diplomat urged Borrell to deal with the internal affairs of the European bloc and address the need of its citizens. “We reject your insistence and obsession against Venezuela.”
“Your claim to give lessons on democracy, liberty and prosperity should be devoted to addressing the needs of European citizens.”
The Venezuelan diplomat reiterated the invitation to the November 21 regional elections, where candidates from all opposition sectors and the alliance supporting the Venezuelan Government will participate as part of the inclusive dialogue held by both parties.
“In 16 days, we will hold our 29th election, an event that’s open to the world and where we will ratify the strength of our democracy and our electoral system. The EU is invited to this party of popular protagonism in the contest of our unavoidable sovereign commitment,” added Plasencia.
