Vice-president Delcy Rodríguez held on Wednesday a meeting with the Representative of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) in Venezuela, Federico Gerardo de Cosio, to discuss the vaccine procurement process through COVAX.
The meeting was also attended by Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza and Health Minister Carlos Alvarado, and it was held following an instruction gave by President Nicolás Maduro to wrap up the vaccine procurement process through this system created by the World Health Organization (WHO) to ensure a fair, equitable access to all the countries of the world.
At a COVID-19 update meeting held on Sunday, President Maduro announced the Bolivarian Government approved the vaccines that can be sent to the country through this international mechanism.
Likewise, the Venezuelan president underlined that despite the vaccine shortage in the world, inequality and the U.S. government’s persecution against the Venezuelan people, his administration has managed to immunized prioritized sectors of the population.
The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela is moving forward with the second phase of the vaccination campaign thanks to alliances established with countries such as Russia and China, a cooperation that has enabled to protect the health and life of the Venezuelan people against COVID-19.
