Within the framework of the XVI World Africa Week in Venezuela and the VII Cultural Festival with the Peoples of Africa, the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, in conjunction with the National Experimental University of the Arts (Unearte), developed this Wednesday the seminar Creative bodies, resistances and territories from the Afro-Venezuelan.

The activity was led by the Vice-minister for Africa of the Foreign Ministry, Yuri Pimentel and the rector of Unearte, Tibisay Lucena, who stressed that it is through the arts and cultural manifestations that the people will achieve their true independence and build a better world in solidarity.

She contextualized that this type of seminar is part of the struggle and resistance against the “colonizing hegemon” that seeks to maintain its domination over the people of the south, through its weapons of mass destruction, such as bombs, sanctions, blockades, psychological operations.

XVI Semana Mundial de África en Venezuela inicia con exposición fotográfica

The XVI World Africa Week in Venezuela began this Tuesday with the photographic exhibition Africa and Venezuela: Dance and Sing for Unity, at the Bolivian Museum, in Caracas, with the assistance of Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country.

Since the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution in 1999, Commander Hugo Chávez prioritized relations of cooperation and solidarity with the countries of the African continent, which he baptized as “Mother Africa”, claiming the presence of Africanity in the country’s miscegenation and identity as a people.
