The Vice-minister for Africa of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, Yuri Pimentel, held on Wednesday a meeting with the deputy for the African National Congress (ANC) of South Africa, Zolani Mkiva, who is on his fourth official visit to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
“Venezuela and South Africa have been moving forward on the route of integration between the two peoples for several years, at the instructions of President Nicolás Maduro, and this is part of that effort which has being carried”, said Vice-minister Pimentel about the meeting with the South African parliamentarian.
He recalled that at the beginning of 2020 the first business forum between Venezuela and South Africa was held, highlighting that Deputy Zolani and the group of businessmen who accompany him on his visit to the South American nation considered how to strengthen economic and commercial ties between both countries.
In addition, in the development of the meeting they addressed a series of initiatives in the cultural and educational field, such as the exchange through the International Students Program that Venezuela has, especially in the area of medicine.
During his stay in the country, the also president of the South Africa-Venezuela Solidarity Group (Sasuve), has several meetings with Venezuelan authorities on his agenda. This Wednesday he also held a meeting with the Foreign Policy Commission of the National Assembly, to strengthen ties of cooperation between the two parliaments.
Deputy Zolani Mkiva, considered a good friend of Venezuela, also serves as Secretary General of the Congress of Traditional Leaders of South Africa (Contralesa), and is President of the Institute of African Royalty (IAR), a continental body that coordinates the initiatives of the African cultural and traditional leaders.
