This Wednesday, the People’s Power Ministry for Indigenous Peoples hosted an inter-institutional meeting between authorities of this and other offices of the Bolivarian Government with representatives of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
The meeting was led by the Minister for Indigenous Peoples, Yamilet Mirabal; the Director of Cooperation with United Nations Agencies of the Office of the Vice-minister for Multilateral Issues of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, Sergio Barasarte; the Vice-minister of Social and Institutional Planning of the People’s Power Ministry for Planning, Wilmara Lugo and the representation of the FAO was led by Alexis Bonte, Jesús Cegarra, Milagros Viloria and Manuel Claros.
The head of the indigenous portfolio reported that among the topics discussed were the presentation of a project of the Global Environment Fund in Imataca with the Kariña people; the rehabilitation of productive spaces in Wayuu communities of Zulia; possible joint actions with the Fund for the Development of Indigenous People of Latin America and the Caribbean, and the internship program for indigenous youth.
