The People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, held on Wednesday a telematic meeting with the Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), Rodolfo Sabonge, in which they reviewed the issues scheduled for the next meeting of foreign ministers of the organization, to be held on May 27, as a strategy to strengthen Venezuela’s cooperation ties with the ACS.
Secretary Sabonge, a Panamanian diplomat who took office in November 2020, raised the need to revitalize the Association, adapt it to the new realities of the region around the COVID-19 pandemic, for which he is on a tour arround the Greater Caribbean.
Foreign Minister Arreaza was accompanied by the Executive Secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), Sacha Llorenti, and the president of the ALBA Bank, Raúl Li Causi.
In this sense, the meeting presented the possibility of strengthening cooperation between the ALBA-TCP and the ACS, as well as the use of the ALBA Bank as a financial tool, identifying development projects in which they can work together, in benefit of the peoples of the region.

The Minister extended an invitation to the Secretary General of the ACS to visit the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela next June.
The Association of Caribbean States is an organization established in 1994 that works for the sustainable development of the Greater Caribbean, focused on cooperation, disaster risk reduction, climate change, protection of the Caribbean Sea, sustainable tourism, trade, transportation and external economic relations, education and culture. It has 25 Member States and 7 Associates.
